St Joseph's Parish

The Catholic parish of St. Joseph's
in Leicester began in 1938 when people gathered for the celebration of mass
in a converted stable.
There have been three churches on this site.
The temporary second church was built in
the 1950's with the intention of its becoming
a parish hall when the third and present church was built in 1968.
There are around 700 homes in the parish
which is served by two churches.
St. Joseph's Church (above) seats about
400 people and is situated at a busy ring-road
junction on the eastern outskirts of the city.
The Rosary Church (below) is on the Netherhall Estate and seats about 150.

St. Joseph's Childrens Website
www.ourliturgy.com
Christmas 2005 the children of the parish
received a special present - their own website.
(Although the interactive pages are
password-protected, most pages can be accessed.)

"Frankie" (Paul's former guide dog, above)
is the mascot of the children's site and
helps guide the children around their site.
The site has some very interesting quizzes
and competitions and has grown considerably
since it began with the ongoing
"What happened on Sunday" page,
which displays the children's own work
from the weekly children's liturgy
held at St. Joseph's during the 10.30 am mass.
The site has its own domain name
(chosen by Molly and Harry) and
it can be visited by clicking on the above link.
